Dietetic Assistant: Sponsorship Available

Job Summary

We are looking for someone with a passion for nutrition and health to join our small friendly team of dietitians and assistants at Ealing Hospital. This is a newly developed role which will support patients on the acute wards alongside the dietetic team.

The successful candidate will be supported through training and competencies to be able to hold a caseload of inpatients and develop and monitor nutritional plans within an agreed framework. The dietetic team works closely with the multidisciplinary team and catering team to ensure patients nutritional needs are met.

You need to have an interest in nutrition and experience working in a healthcare setting is desirable. Excellent communication skills are essential alongside skills in time management and organisation. As the Trust uses an electronic patient record good IT skills are required.

The dietetic team has 9 dietitians who cover a range of wards including medical, surgical, gastroenterology, ICU and gastroenterology and paediatric outpatients. There are also 2 dietetic assistants and admin support. The Ealing dietitians form part of the wider LNWUH Dietetic Team with dietitians at Northwick Park and Central Middlesex Hospitals with further specialities covering stroke, head and neck cancer and parental nutrition. There are good professional development activities available including specialist development groups, internal and external training and opportunities for shadowing.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • GCSE or NVQ L3 or equivalent in English and Maths

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD in nutrition or dietetics
